PROJECT NAME: Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary (2020 edition)
COMPANY NAME: Gaya Studios
PLATFORMS LAUNCHED: PC (Windows), Xbox Series X|S.
TEAM SIZE: +20 people from the studio.
MY WORK DURATION: 6 months
TOOLS USED: MFS SDK Engine, 3Ds Max, Photoshop.
I worked as a Level Designer and Environment Designer on Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary (2020), contributing to the United Kingdom & Ireland World Update XVII. My work involved creating and refining numerous Points of Interest (POIs) and several airports across the region. Using the project’s independent SDK engine, I was responsible for placing 3D structures, designing their surrounding environments, and ensuring each location closely matched its real-world counterpart through careful composition of objects, terrain textures, and color adjustments.
I also worked with 3ds Max and Photoshop to modify assets and textures, ensuring seamless integration and natural visual transitions in-game. Additionally, I supported the team in refining other POIs by fixing terrain, textures, collisions, and LODs, contributing to the overall visual fidelity and immersive realism of the update.
